Frequently Asked Questions

The answers to many questions can be found in my Etsy store Shop Policies, viewed here .

1) Where can I see what colors are available?  How can I view them in person?
All of my silk dresses (unless noted otherwise) are available in any of these 100 colors.  Contact me with the color numbers you are interested in seeing and I will mail them out to you free of charge.  Don't forget to let me know your address!
If you have a color in mind that you don't see here, let me know!

2)Is there a way for me to try dresses on?
I am always happy to meet with clients in person in my Park Slope, Brooklyn studio.  Please email me to set up an appointment.
I will lend up to 3 samples out per client (when they are available), however I must charge a $25 non-refundable fee per dress, a refundable deposit on the value of the dress, and $10 shipping per package.  I will mail you available samples to you by insured post and they must be returned (in the same condition) within 14 days or the value of the dress will be charged.

4) How far out should I order my dress before the event?
For dresses from the line (ie not custom designed) I will ship your dress 10-12 weeks from the date the order is finalized.  The post usually takes about a week for domestic shipments and longer for international shipments.  Give yourself enough time for alterations and so you don't have to stress!
Rushed delivery may be available for a fee.
For fully custom gowns, please see below.

5) I hear you are especially great with maternity dresses! How do I know what size to order?
Indeed, I have spent a lot of time analyzing maternity fits!  (See my bio for more about that)
Just let me know your pre-pregnancy size, along with how many weeks along you will be when you wear the dress.  I will be able to figure it out from that and if I feel like more info would be helpful in your particular case, I'll just ask :)

5) I like a certain dress, but I'd like to (add sleeves, make it long, change the skirt shape, add a strap, etc)- is that possible?
Usually!  As always, just let me know what you are thinking about and I will let you know what I can do.

6) Are discounts offered if I order multiple dresses (ie for bridesmaids)?
Yes!
Discounts are available as follows:
10% off with purchase of 3-4 dresses (all the same style, any colors)
15% off with purchase of 5+ dresses (all the same style, any colors)
Discount applies to any purchases made through a single buyer or for a single party (please convo for a party discount code). Please be sure to note this code at checkout to receive your discount.
If you are a wholesale buyer, please contact me for further information!

7) I live in or will be visiting the NYC area- can I meet you and see dresses in person?
Absolutely!  I am always happy to meet with my lovely customers in person!  If you are in the area, please do make an appointment to visit me in my studio.  It's a great way to choose your style, colors, and size, and I for one find it fun to get to know you all!

8) What kind of fabrics do you use?
We strive to use the highest quality, natural fiber fabrics available.  All of the satin, chiffon, and crepe dresses are made with silk outer layers with sometimes poly lining, sometimes silk linings.   I try my best to note in the description what the fabric content is, but if you have a specific question or would like a substitute fabric, please feel free to contact me.

9) Are the dresses cut to my exact measurements?
Bridal gowns are made to your measurements, and if you are working with me locally I will do a final fitting for you to make sure the dress is perfect.  Other styles (ie more simple styles and lower priced items) are made in a standard size (XS-L or 2-22, regular, tall, or petite).  You may need to have the dress further tailored, as you would sometimes with a dress you by in a store.
Fully custom designed and draped gowns are made to your exact measurements.  For more details, see below.

10) OK! I'm ready to order- how do I do that??
Please convo me with name, color, and size of the dress you want to purchase (as well as pertinent details regarding silhouette changes), and I will make a custom listing for you!  I will email you with a link to the posting, and it will also be found in my store under the "ON HOLD" menu.

Regarding fully custom designed gowns:

1) I would love to wear a one-of-a-kind gown!  Can you make me a fully custom designed gown?
Yes! I am happy to work with you to design your absolute dream dress, custom draped to your exact measurements.
The process takes at least 4 months from start to finish, but it's best to plan 6-9 months ahead.
After an initial free 2-hour design consultation, I will sketch 4 design variations based on our discussion and supply you with fabric swatch options.  Once the design and fabrics are decided on, I will then make a "draft" (aka a "muslin") of the dress, which is fitted on you so fit and style details can be tweaked before the gown is cut in the actual fabric.  Finally, your gown is hand cut and constructed using superior finishing techniques and is built to be a family heirloom.
You can choose from a huge range of the finest fabrics, and the style possibilities are endless!
Pricing for custom designed gowns can range anywhere from $1200-$6000, but generally cost about $2500-4000.   Your signature on a simple contract as well as a non-refundable 50% deposit is required to begin.  The remaining 50% balance is due upon completion of the dress.

2) Can you make my custom dress, even if I don't live near or won't be visiting the New York City area?
Yes, arrangements can possibly be worked out.  For example, design communications can be done by phone and internet, then your muslin can be sent to you and fitted by a qualified tailor locally, etc.  Please contact me to discuss in detail.

3) I found a dress that I really love but cannot afford- can you make it for me?
While I'm happy to make you a fully custom gown, and it is wonderful if you do bring your own inspirations for that design, I will not copy another designer's gown.  Also it should be noted that generally speaking, it is not less expensive to have a dress custom made for you than to buy one in the store.
